Teeth whitening is our most popular cosmetic dentistry service.  Modern dental technology has made obtaining whiter teeth so much easier and more accessible.  In only one visit, you can leave the office with a brighter, whiter smile.

Teeth discoloration can occur as a result of aging or certain lifestyle choices.  The frequent intake of beverages such as coffee and tea can begin to darken your teeth over time.  Smoking is also a major cause of tooth discoloration as well as decay.  No matter the cause, the appearance of dark, discolored teeth can be unsightly and unpleasant for a patient.  Now, achieving whiter teeth can be a breeze.  At Knollwood Dental Group, we offer several different methods for teeth whitening, including a gentle hydrogen-peroxide gel-activated solution.  Contact us today for more information about our excellent teeth whitening services.

Your teeth will darken over time.  Changes in the color of your teeth can be caused by such factors as the food and beverages consumed (like coffee, tea and soda).  Other known factors for discoloration may include childhood medications or illnesses, tobacco use or improper oral hygiene.  Restoring your natural white smile is a priority for our dental whitening team.  We can provide a variety of options for whitening your smile.

Tooth whitening services are growing in popularity, and it’s one of the most requested services offered by our practice.  Everyone sees the growing consumer market focused on whiter teeth.  The reality is that over-the-counter, “too good to be true” solutions typically don’t work.

We are trained professionals using industry-approved methods.  Our goal is to meet the needs of every patient, and every patient’s needs are different.  One of the methods used by our practice is a gentle hydrogen-peroxide gel-activated solution.  Our process will whiten your entire smile in one visit.  Call us today for a whitening evaluation.

Nothing improves your appearance more than a bright, white smile!

Composite Bonding

Composite bonds are a great option for fixing cracked or chipped teeth, closing gaps between teeth, or covering significant, permanent tooth discoloration. Using a composite material such as plastic or resin, the bond is affixed to your current tooth. With a wide range of color options, we’ll help you find the best match to your current shade, so the bond is hardly noticeable on your teeth.

Composite bonding is an affordable cosmetic dentistry service, and requires very little, if any, changes to your existing tooth structure.  The affixing process is quick and painless and usually finished in under an hour.  With composite bonds, extra care is needed as they are prone to discoloration.  It is recommended to avoid staining culprits such as coffee or red wine. You will need to brush carefully after every meal.  Not as durable as veneers, composite bonds may be more prone to breakage, and require additional bonding or repair in the future.

Bonding is a common solution for:

  • Fixing or repairing chipped or cracked teeth
  • Reducing unsightly gaps or spaces between teeth
  • Hiding discoloration or faded areas on the tooth’s surface

Often, composite bonding is used to improve the appearance of your teeth and enhance your smile.  As the name indicates, composite material, either a plastic or resin, is bonded to an existing tooth.  Unlike veneers or crowns, composite bonding removes little, if any, of the original tooth.

Composite bonding has many advantages:

  • It is a quick process, which typically lasts less than one hour.
  • It does not reduce the tooth’s original structure and is relatively inexpensive.
  • Composite resins come in many different shades and provide better matching of shades to the natural color of your teeth.
  • Composite bonds, however, are not as durable and long-lasting as veneers and crowns and may need to be re-touched or replaced in the future.

Composite bonds stain more easily and therefore require proper care and regular cleaning. In order to ensure the longest possible duration of the bonding, composites should be brushed and flossed daily.  Common staining elements include coffee, tea, tobacco, foods and candy.

Veneers

veneers

veneers

Veneers, constructed from a special porcelain material, are thin, semi-translucent “shells” which are bonded to a patient’s front teeth.  The application of veneers can dramatically improve the look of your teeth, and are a great option for cracked, discolored, chipped, or even crooked teeth.  Many patients can avoid the need for orthodontic treatment with the application of veneers. The process is fairly simple and typically requires only two office visits.  Long-lasting and durable, veneers will subtly enhance your smile, to give you a beautiful, bright look for years to come.

Veneers are thin, semi-translucent “shells” typically attached to your front teeth.  Veneers are customized from porcelain material that is bonded to your teeth.  Veneers are a great alternative to otherwise painful dental procedures to improve the appearance of your smile.

Common problems that veneers are used for:

  • Spaces between the teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Unsightly, stained or discolored teeth
  • Permanently stained or discolored teeth
  • Crooked or misshapen teeth

Veneers are a great aesthetic solution to your smile that may even help you avoid orthodontic treatment.  Subtle changes to your smile can be achieved with veneers, and in most cases, veneer application is completed in only two office visits.

Please contact our office if you have any further questions on veneers.

Crowns are used to correct a variety of issues.  Our crowns are made from the highest quality porcelain to give you the most natural looking, comfortable and durable crown available.
We recommend porcelain crowns for the following reasons:

  • Hold together a cracked tooth
  • Prevent a weak tooth from breaking especially a tooth with a very large filling
  • Restore a severely worn down or broken tooth
  • Hold a dental bridge in place
  • Improve your bite
  • Lengthen teeth that are too short
  • Cover severely discolored or unattractive teeth “SMILE MAKEOVER”

Bridges

bridges

A bridge is a dental device that fills a space that a tooth previously occupied. A bridge may be necessary to prevent:

  • Shifting of the teeth that can lead to bite problems (occlusion) and/or jaw problems and resultant periodontal disease.
  • Bridges safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help maintain a healthy, vibrant smile.

There are three main types of bridges, namely:

  • A fixed bridge is the most popular and consists of a filler tooth that is attached to two crowns, which fit over the existing teeth and hold the bridge in place.
  • The cantilever bridge is often used when there are teeth on only one side of the span. A typical three-unit cantilever bridge consists of two crowned teeth positioned next to each other on the same side of the missing tooth space. The filler tooth is then connected to the two crowned teeth, which extend into the missing tooth space or end.

Facial Cosmetic Services

Botox®

Many are turning to Botox to reduce moderate to severe frown lines between their brows, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet.  This safe and effective medication is placed into your wrinkles using a tiny needle.  It is used to eliminate facial wrinkles and frown lines by decreasing the movement of the muscles in these trouble areas.  Botox can brighten up your attitude and outlook, remove the wrinkles of time or make small improvements in an otherwise perfect face.  Botox has also been used successfully for patients with excessive sweating in the armpits, hands or feet.

Botox is specially formulated with a purified protein, which relaxes the muscles when injected in the targeted area, ultimately reducing the appearance of frown lines and facial wrinkles.  It is a minimally invasive procedure, allowing patients to return to normal daily activities immediately following the procedure.  A topical anesthesia can be used, if necessary.

FDA approved, Botox is a safe and effective procedure that provides patients with results that can last anywhere from 3-5 months on average.

Following the Botox procedure it is not uncommon to experience some minor swelling, redness or bruising around the targeted site.  Patients can take Tylenol and/or use ice packs to help reduce swelling and relieve any discomfort.  Other side effects include drooping of the eyelid, nausea, headache and respiratory infection, but only occur in about 1% of patients.  They are considered temporary and usually resolve themselves within a few weeks.

Juvéderm™

botox

Juvéderm is a smooth gel that is made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance found in your body.  By carefully injecting Juvéderm underneath the skin, your skin can be completely rejuvenated, ultimately adding volume and reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds.  It offers patients a safe and effective treatment with little to no down-time.  Juvéderm is less invasive than other fillers and provides patients with dramatic improvement almost immediately following treatment.  Results can last up to six months.
